Situation
As the customer prepared a new vehicle platform, their design and purchasing teams found themselves with differing objectives. They needed a fastener partner capable of bringing engineering priorities and commercial goals together and able to do so early enough to influence the Verify Fit and Function (VFF) stage.
Solution
Optimas International engineers were embedded from the very start of the programme, providing immediate access to proven, cost‑efficient fasteners that met all technical requirements. Throughout development, our team consolidated components wherever possible, ultimately removing 136 individual parts from the BOM during prototyping.
By reducing part proliferation and closely tracking component usage across VFF builds, engineers gained the clarity needed to streamline fastener selection and stabilise supply well before production ramp‑up. This early alignment created a strong foundation for a consistent, scalable fastener strategy across the entire platform.
Result
The customer achieved a significant reduction in obsolescence, a clearly defined fastener policy and an estimated €460k saving in the first year alone. The project not only delivered immediate financial impact, but it also set the customer up for long-term efficiency and smarter engineering decisions across future programmes.
