Reduction in fastener variant
When a luxury automaker needed to hit ambitious KPIs and tight launch deadlines, they turned to Optimas International for on-site, expert support. By embedding our team directly into their operation, we helped streamline engineering decisions and cut fastener variants by 22%, unlocking major cost savings across every vehicle produced.
Situation
Launching a new model meant meeting a demanding set of performance targets. The customer needed deep technical insight, full visibility during the design phase and a partner capable of driving improvements from day one.
Solution
To deliver immediate value, Optimas International deployed local engineering specialists directly on‑site at the customer’s production facility. This enabled a weekly engineering forum that accelerated collaboration and decision‑making. Within the first month, our experts completed 55 targeted technical consultations, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and optimise.
A cross‑functional group then built a curated Preferred Parts List, giving engineers a clear, cost‑effective fastener selection for every new design and BOM update. To support rapid adoption, we also developed a 24/7 image‑driven fastener database accessible through the customer’s internal network, ensuring engineers could quickly identify and select approved components.
Result
Optimas International delivered cost savings of €20 per vehicle, totalling more than €3.4 million in total savings – double the customer’s original target.
Beyond the financial impact, the Preferred Parts list, always‑available fastener database and weekly engineering forums transformed internal collaboration and strengthened alignment across all engineering departments.
