Internal Threaded Fasteners

Internal threaded fasteners for strong, secure connections.

Product Description

Optimas International supplies internal threaded fasteners across nuts, threaded inserts and related specialist types, combining broad category coverage with application-led material selection.

From sheet metal assemblies to structural joints, we help manufacturers select components around host material, load and fastener compatibility requirements.

Application

Product Application

Internal threaded fasteners are used to create secure threaded connections across a wide range of assemblies. Choosing the right component depends on factors such as the host material, expected loads, thread size and pitch, and compatibility with the matching bolt or screw. Applications include sheet metal assemblies, plastic housings and structural joints, where the right threaded component can help provide a reliable connection.

Optimas International supplies a broad range of internal threaded fasteners, including hex nuts, threaded inserts and weld nuts, with options available for different materials, thread types and locking requirements. We work with customers to understand the application and connection requirements, helping identify the appropriate fastener for the host material and mating bolt or screw.

Materials and Quality

Materials, Finishes and Quality Matched to the Application

Our range of internal threaded fasteners comprise of a variety of materials. Carbon steel provides a strong, general-purpose solution for many applications, while stainless steel can provide greater corrosion resistance where fasteners are exposed to moisture or more demanding environments. Brass is suited to electrical and lower-load applications, while Nylon inserts can provide durable, reusable threads in plastic or lightweight housings.

Optimas International’s range includes hex full, jam and flange nuts, as well as Nylon-insert locking nuts and all-metal locking nuts. Coarse and fine thread pitches are available to suit different connection requirements, with selection based on factors such as thread size, pitch, locking requirements, host material and compatibility with the matching bolt or screw.

We manage internal threaded fastener supply from specification through to delivery, helping ensure the selected component meets the requirements of the finished assembly. Relevant dimensional and performance standards include ISO 4032, DIN 934, ISO 7042 and ISO 2320, with the applicable standard confirmed against the specific nut type and connection requirements.

This approach helps ensure the internal threaded fastener is not simply a dimensional match, but is appropriately selected for the load, environment, host material and matching fastener. By considering these requirements together, we help customers achieve secure, consistent and reliable threaded connections across a range of applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Optimas International supplies a range of internal threaded fasteners, including hex nuts, threaded inserts and weld nuts. Options include carbon steel, stainless steel, brass and Nylon, with different thread sizes, pitches and locking arrangements available to suit the application.

The internal thread needs to match the thread size and pitch of the bolt or screw, while the fastener’s material and strength need to suit the application. Optimas International can support selection based on the host material, expected loads, thread requirements and the specifications of the matching bolt or screw.

Coarse and fine thread nuts have different thread pitches and are selected according to the requirements of the connection. The appropriate thread must match the bolt or screw being used, with Optimas International able to source the required thread specification.

A Nylon-insert locking nut incorporates a polymer insert that grips the bolt thread to help resist loosening caused by vibration. It can be a suitable choice where additional resistance to loosening is required and the operating conditions are appropriate for a Nylon insert.

All-metal locking nuts can be used where a locking function is required and a Nylon insert may not be suitable, particularly in higher-temperature applications. The appropriate locking nut depends on the temperature, load, vibration and other conditions of the application.

Flange nuts incorporate an integral flange that provides a larger bearing surface against the assembled component. They can be useful where load distribution or assembly requirements make a wider bearing surface beneficial.

Yes. Optimas International can source both standard and specialist internal threaded fasteners against an existing specification, drawing or defined application requirement. This allows requirements such as material, thread type, dimensions and locking arrangement to be considered as part of the specification.

Rivnuts are covered within our Rivets & Inserts product range. They provide a threaded fastening point in applications where access to the rear of the material is limited, and are specified separately from conventional internal threaded fasteners such as nuts and weld nuts.

The applicable standard depends on the type of internal threaded fastener being supplied. Relevant standards include ISO 4032, DIN 934, ISO 7042 and ISO 2320, with the appropriate standard confirmed against the specific product type and application requirements.
