External threaded fasteners are available in materials and grades selected around the mechanical and environmental requirements of the joint. Carbon and alloy steel grades from 4.6 through to 12.9 provide a broad range of mechanical performance, while A2 and A4 stainless steel offer increased corrosion resistance for suitable applications.

Brass, aluminium, titanium and other specialist materials can also be sourced where weight, conductivity, corrosion resistance or other application-specific requirements call for an alternative to conventional steel fasteners.
